About Jelila

Jelila – Artist & Creator

You Deserve to Feel Great.

Jelila is an intuitive colourist painter influenced by Bonnard and Matisse. She is also a healer who works with colour as a vibrational energy. Jelila’s colours express feelings, the rainbow of her inner vision, and the energy that she senses all around her. Her work is for contemplation, healing, inspiratioon, and pure enjoyment.

Jelila’s corporate experience in project management, systems design and global implementation – she had a successful 17 year career at major blue chip companies – supported the technical feat of creating the fairy village project, lighting, and engineering the working model railway.
She is now sharing project management ability – an important life skill for all areas of life – through step-by-step creative classes, and art projects undertaken by adults and children.

My Approach & Philosophy

As the creator of Ubud Fairy Village, Jelila wanted to rejuvenate and encourage the old, enchanting, fairylike energy of Ubud, as it was when she first arrived, 25 years ago.

Jelila’s other aim, as a healer, is to enhance connection and playfulness among parents, children, and the inner child, via creative classes and experiences.

It took a year to build the village, and 4 years to make all the miniatures for sale in the shop, designed and created by Jelila and her staff.

Jelila is English and studied art at Sir John Cass School of Art, London and the Art Student’s League of New York, under Frank O’Cain. She has had many group and solo art exhibitions in London, has exhibited in Bali, had a group show in New York and a solo show in Budapest.

Her paintings are now touring in Zero2Expo, a show campaigning for happy birth, in the UK.

Engendering young entrepreneurs

Jelila has painted in Bali for 25 years, treasuring the colour, light, beauty, playfulness, and spirit. She has a beautiful, 20 year old half-Balinese daughter, Cahya, who has her own spa and beauty business.
Cahya affirms that her mother’s approach in teaching her entrepreneurialism through play, as a child, was a major contributor to her successful business and to her now large Instagram following.
Jelila also wishes to share this gentle approach to ‘engendering young entrepreneurs’, in a positive way, through Ubud Fairy Village, if parents desire it.
